GP VACANCY

Rotorua Medical Group has a vacancy for a permanent General Practitioner ideally to work between 8 and 10 sessions per week Monday to Friday. You will be based at our Central Health site, where we offer patients general medical and acute/walk in services from a modern purpose built site shared with both Pharmacy and Radiology services. You can now have your bloods taken right here in the clinic saving you a trip to the Laboratory.   Our Clinical Assistants are experienced in taking bloods and look forward to providing this service for you.  

Easy Booking Appointment System

Easy Booking an online appointment booking service is now available for all registered patients at Central Health and Fairy Springs Medical Centre.  Click on the Green ‘Book Now’ button located at the top of the page next to our logo.  Choose to visit either our Central Health or Fairy Springs sites, select the Doctor you prefer to see, then choose from the list of available appointments, enter your email address, your name and date of birth and its done – EASY!

Daily Drop in Clinic

The Drop In Clinic operates at both our Central Health and Fairy Springs sites daily between 09:00am and 11:00am.    We also have a Drop in Clinic at Central Health each afternoon 2.00pm to 4.00pm Patients will be seen in the order they present to the practice. The Drop In Clinic allows you to see the doctor for a single acute medical problem or accident. The Drop In Clinic is not intended for your regular check ups or WINZ forms, you will require a full appointment with your doctor for these.    

2019 FLU VACCINE SUPPLIES

Unfortunately , due to high demand, NZ is running low on FLU vaccines.  To ensure that those most in need can get the influenza vaccine, the Ministry of Health is asking General Practices and Pharmacists to ensure they closely manage their stock levels and only vaccinate those who are eligible for publicly funded vaccines:  Pregnant women Those aged 65 and over Children aged 4 and under with serious respiratory illnesses People with severe asthma, heart disease, diabetes and other serious health conditions that make them more susceptible to influenza. “FREE” Shingles Vaccine

The Shingles Vaccine will be FREE for those aged 65 years from 1st April 2018 and for those aged 66-80 years from 1st April 2018 until 31st March 2020. The Shingles Vaccine won’t be suitable for everyone so our advice is to talk to your doctor first. Around 1 in 3 people will get Shingles in their lifetime.  Shingles is more common and can be more severe as you get older.  Two thirds of Shingles cases occur in people aged 50 years and older.  Shingles can appear as an unsightly, blistering rash and can be even more painful than it looks. Vicky Gaunt – Nurse Practitioner

Vicky has a nursing and midwifery background spanning 30 years in both the U.K. and Rotorua and the last 16 years in Primary Care. Vicky is now registered as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Primary Care and joined Rotorua Medical Group in 2017, primarily based at Central Health. Nurse Practitioner is a relatively new role and recognises expert nurses who work within a specific area of practice, incorporating advanced knowledge and skills. Nurse Practitioners provide a wide range of assessment and treatment interventions. These include differential diagnoses, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, administering therapies and prescribing medicines within their specific area of practice. This is a huge
